Our Political Action Steering Committee works to increase influence through political involvement. The committee sets priorities for the HBA through an analysis of each race for office. This includes examining a position level of importance to the industry, as well as interviewing candidates and researching backgrounds.
   Our Government Affairs team carries an important responsibility for representing members, as well as the housing industry in general, before local and state jurisdictions. The team first works to build relationships of trust and credibility with elected officials, planners, building officials and others in Michiana who may be involved in policy changes affecting the industry. To build relationships, team members are involved in efforts that range from regular one-on-one meetings to attending city council and county commissioner sessions and serving on advisory committees. Establishing such relationships also involves recruiting and supporting candidates to run for elective office.
